Before the first 10 hours with the amp9 burned in I was disappointed with it somewhat and found the stock amp better ( through balanced). Now I figured it was much to do with the ~200 hz range boost making the CA Atlas lose detail and sound muffled.

How does the Amp9 change with burn in ? And does anyone else find they need to re-adjust EQ when going to amp9?
Ty
Atlas may sound too bassy on amp9 or amp8. They are more dynamic than amp1 mkII. Also try going down to low gain mode if on medium.
Try some tip rolling. Avoid foams if 200hz is your problem.
Whirlwind tips tame mid/upper bass quite well.

New DX228 owner. Impressed with the sound through my FH7s and my HD650s, even after only ~20 hours burn-in. This replaces a HiBy R6 Pro, and it seems like a big step in the right direction so far. However, I'm having problems with wifi dropping while streaming. It seems most prevalent in Tidal (2.21.0.978.28) installed through APKPure (streaming stops after 2-3 songs). I've tried Spotify and Amazon Music HD streaming as well, and they seem much better than Tidal, but eventually they will stop, too.

I'm on firmware 1.16.242 (OTA), and I noticed that downloading that firmware also saw wifi dropping out after several minutes with the screen off. It took several presses of "Continue" to eventually download the firmware.

I've read ~450 of the 750 pages of this thread, and I see references to wifi issues being solved in older firmware. Is there any known issue with 1.16.242? More importantly, is there a fix? Would Lurker's add-on with Google Play-provided Tidal fix this?

Welcome and enjoy your DX228!
I don’t use streaming, but did some OTA firmware updates and never had the described behaviour with wifi dropping and pressing 'continue', therefore i don't believe that it is a common firmware issue. Currently i'm also on stock 1.16.242
For the stability of the streaming others may share their experiences as @bahamot did.

I installed the Lurker add-on today, and so far my Tidal streaming experience seems much better. I'm unfortunately not sure whether it was the update or the restart that has made the difference, and it's still too early to tell whether it's completely fixed, but I've gone from 2 songs of Tidal streaming to over an hour, so that's definitely progress. If I've solved the streaming issues, this thing is definitely a keeper!

Just a thought but the antenna is part of the rear cover (someone will correct me if i'm wrong) there is a chance that if your unit had its battery replaced the antenna might not be plugged in properly.
There is a sticker over one of the two screws to get the back cover off so its pretty easy to tell if its been opened. (the screws are under the amp module)

Thanks for the response. I bought it brand new from headphones.com, and I see no indication that it's been opened. I've only had it since Wednesday. That said, the additional reboot or update to the Lurker firmware seems to have resolved my issue. I had it stream Tidal for 6 hours overnight last night with no disconnect that I can tell. That's more than enough for me. :)

i am using a dx220 reader upgraded by fidelizer, masterpiece mod, rom advanced and amp8, everything works perfectly except with the qobuz app, does anyone have experience with this app?
Before having all the upgrades, everything was perfectly working, now the app is slow, some albums are not played, I am very frustrated

I think you need bit perfect mode enabled in UAPP to decode MQA to 192 khz .

Hello,

any DX220 owners who also own the Hugo 2?
Am curious if the 220 in desktop DAC mode can match that of the Hugo 2

on Mojo now for cans but reckon even the DX220 is a big step up (pretty sure from dem—ing)
I have DX228 and H2. I go DX228 -> Optical -> H2 most times.

H2 still has an edge over DX228, but the gap is small enough that I'm seriously considering selling my H2 as I don't use it much.

Just mod the amp8 and the edge will dissapear haha.

I am surprised though. As dx220 sounds much better in dap mode with advanced rom installed than dac mode with foobar 2000.

What desktop dac/amp would be considered a step up over dx220 in dac mode then?

I have tried removing and reinserting the amp on my dx220. I'm not sure how it cause battery consumption, but I've seen about 2hours increase of battery. I used to have about 4-5hrs only.
