How good the DX220 sounds...!!! Almost blows the Astel&Kern KANN Cube out of the water.

It sounds fuller, treble extension is superior, soundstage much wider with AMP8. My only complain right now is the (very) week Wifi. I use streaming mostly and it is not working at least for the moment. Is there a firmware update that can improve this?

Let me summarize:
- you have the 'dirty'/not satisfying sound with different source files including FLACs so that you can exclude the source data
- you have tried different headphones with different cables, from this thread i've read you own a Focal Clear and a Elegia and both have the same effect, right?

I would say either your DX220 unit has a fault or your expectations are exaggerated.
However i definitive wouldn't define the sound of the DX220 as dirty, even when i use different headphones. I can't imagine that your headphones are that bad.

If you have bought it new, go back to your dealer and try to clarify this with him. As he has different other headphones and maybe another DX220 or another portable DAP to compare, this could be sorted out with him.

In case you bought it used, then the only option is to send it back to iBasso.

Interesting... I tried the earphones came with my Galaxy S10. Surprisingly it sounds better than other headphones. Of course the soundstage is small but the sound is very clean and musically pleasing.



How can this thing sound better than Focal Clear ? Really interesting. By the way this is the only IEM I've tried, I only used over-ears so far.

That is strange. I am on WiFi 5G and I could upload a full DSD file in minutes. I can also stream and download stuff super fast anywhere I am in the house
