There's definitely some lag, a few bugs as well. It's not awful but definitely noticeable. Apparently this was even improved from the DX200, which I don't want to picture.
Most if the time i disagree with you. This is one of the few times I agree with you. Even the play/pause lags a bit. Still love this dap a lot though.

Hi, is album art displayed even if it only exists as a Cover.jpg image file on album folder?
Depending on answer I might (or not) have to do some preparatory work before my DX220 arrives since for reasons that don’t matter here I removed all the embedded album art from tracks.

Edit: Mp3tag app can easily recover album art from the jpg and save it on ID3 tag. A simple action with one step can automate task for all tracks - maybe @Paul - iBasso can clarify this? Although for sure art should be embedded, if it works equally fine with Cover.jpg that would be great. Curious also concerning memory/storage/miniature cache/etc, which of them takes less resources.

This is how I have my data stored (as Cover.jpg in each album folder) and I have no issues with album art showing up.

Anyone else experience anything different?

Cheers,
Tim

We have checked this out and it is Tidal.

Thank you. This will be changed in the next FW update.

@Paul - iBasso I emailed tidal and this was their reply

Chester, May 12, 5:14 AM EDT

Hello,

The fact that your downloaded MQA content shows your sample rate at 48 khz, means the file is not associated with our MQA rates of 88.2 khz or 96 khz, this is typically due to the pass-through MQA option not set. Since Tidal does not support Digital Audio Players, I advise you to contact iBasso Customer Support directly. They have developed the app that interfaces with TIDAL and will be able to further help you with this matter.

Have a great day!

They seem to think it is something on your end. Maybe the engineers know about a passthrough MQA option that they are talking about? But it also seems like they are thinking it is a specific app and not the tidal app on Android so I have emailed them to let them know it is the Android tidal app but wanted to pass this along if it means anything to you.

To me, Tidal rep think we are not using Tidal official player. They got confused with something like Shanling solution for Tidal.

Yeah I am thinking that too. I emailed them back to see what they say. But figured I'd post it here for Paul just in case it meant anything to them.

@Paul - iBasso Can you explain to us why people are apparently able to significantly improve your amps with cheap mods? Look at these quotes for instance:

I say definitely worth it, just replaced the two nichicon fw caps in my amp1 for panasonic fr one's. To my ears the improvements are big, now it has actual real depth and sparkle.

Got mine from ebay, believe it was a uk seller. they where set of 5x 470uf 16v FR caps, cost me only 8 euro with shipping. Mouser would be an option, but their shipping times seem terrible.

Given only two caps were needed based on top of page 188 this amounts to 3-4 euros at non-bulk end-user with shipping prices. Why were better components not in the stock amp?

What amp module ? The Amp1 MKII isn’t as smooth as Amp1Titanium....however, if you got Amp8EX, that Modified Amp8 my friend....would leave many things in the dust for the smoothness of it textures and details being retrieved. I am sure @edwardsean can confirm

https://twister6.com/2016/09/09/amp8-diy-mod/

I don't know which amp8 mod this is but three of the four components are similarly cheap. The remaining component is much more expensive at $37 but if it's a replacement rather than an addition whatever is in there already should be subtracted.

The implications are troubling and disappointing. At the very least, can you produce an amp with the reasonably highest quality components that would represent the highest capability of the DX220? This isn't a card collection game for some of us. I'm sure many of us would pay more, albeit we might be more reluctant to buy 10 of these modules...

@crazyeyes have you try Tidal apk version 2.11.3? That version can unfold Tidal MQA offline just fine. But somehow it also up sample Tidal Hifi songs (44.1) to 88.2.

I will have to try it.
