How does dx200 compared to Opus #2?

You get more function from DX200, with its multiple AMP modules, etc. But you get a one device one solution with #2, and it is simpler to just use it, while with DX200 you have a few steps to take, like Lurker's mod.

Opus#2 vs iBasso DX200 – Opus #2 is the Top Of The Line DAP from Opus, while DX200 is the Top Of The Line DAP from iBasso. They have similar abilities, but rely on slightly different firmware and hardware. Opus #2 is an all-in-one solution, while DX200 has interchangeable AMP cards. When it comes to their sound, the soundstage is similar in width and depth. The sound signature is fairly similar as well, with Opus#2 being a bit smoother, musical, and a touch less transparent while DX200 holds an edge in transparency and resolution. #2 tends to be a tad more organic in the long run, but they are pretty similar devices.

This is only with AMP1 for DX200, with AMP5, DX200 also gets more organic, but again, it adds to the cost. I think that one would be happy with either.

For hard to drive headphones, DX200 might have more power with AMP5, so this would be good to keep in mind :)

Opus #2 has digital output too  the 3.5mm jack ouputs optical. But no USB audio out (DX200 doesn't have that either).

Thank you, you helped me with my decision to get myself opus #2. I was looking on Cowon P2, but I don't like vol knob on the bottom (opposite site to HP out). Sony Walkman would be an option too since I more like volume buttons, but it do not have 2.5 BAL.

Not fair marketing from HyBy side. "DTA" in R6 is no better than in DX200. Considering that HiBy didn't mention DSD in their table, "DTA" in R6 is worse: DX200 allows 3rd party apps to playback native DSD, and R6 does not.

Please remember: whatever claims you read from HiBy, bear in mind that Android API does not provide an opportunity for bit perfect playback of 24 and 32 bit integer samples! All that HiBy claims is only applicable to sample rates. There is no a way for bit perfect playback of 32/384 using only Android standard API!

On the other hand, DX200 does provide a way for 100% bit perfect playback of any PCM (up to 32/384) and DSD (up to DSD256 via DoP), without modifications of apps. HiBy Music is the example of such an app :D

The bottom line is: iBasso DX200 is the first, and still is the only DAP in the world, which allows the feature called "DTA" by HiBy. OK, with my firmware, but it does not really matter, because for any other DAP there is no a way at all.

And, just in case...

Considering SoC used, they are not fair here as well. The correct values are: "4xA53 cores" for R6 and "8xA53 cores" for DX200 :)
3GB of RAM? Increase of the cost and power consumption, and no real benefits.

So, R6 is only better than DX200 by "stainless steel frame" and QC3.0, and worse in each and every other row in the table, excluding screen resolution, which is equal.

You forgot to mention that R6 has a very high Output impedance at 9 Ohms. Not really a problem for iems designed for or immune to it. But it's gonna be a problem nonetheless. Actually with your FW and Neutron DX200 is the only DAP I carry around most of the time. I can listen bit perfect music or play around with DSP/PEQ. If I want to add correction/flavor.

It seems like audio enthusiasts are raving DX200 especially if it is used with its modules amp3 and/or amp5. They even compare its SQ with most of the top notch costly DAPs.

But that is because DX200 is one of the best I've heard / held in my hand :)

IF you don't have HD800S or something too crazy to drive, DX200 satisfies alll your music needs so extremely well that it makes to the first top 3 players ever created, especially portable, regardless of the price

Well I would imagine so...Many of us have compared this unit to the "top notch costly DAPs" in production today. This is a TOTL Flagship DAP...doing exactly what it should do....wow it's customers with it's sound quality.

What was once surprising is that it goes toe to toe with the overpriced AK380 (which has dropped it's price by $1K)...and the Sony WM1Z.

No one should be surprised, because Portable players can only do so much, the rest is your IEMS or Headphones, and whatever else you plug it into. Then next up, your perspective regarding the practicality, form, features, brand, functionality, features....etc.

I will be honest and tell you this. I do have 200 and wm1Z here. But if I had to pick one and let one go, the decisive factor would be my pocket and how much I am willing to spend, period.

I think it is now the other way around. I have heard what are considered the top players and with AMP. 3, 4, or 5 IMO the DX200 tops them.

Isn't DX200 like about half of the price of 1Z? :)
