Hi,

Does anyone ever try dx200 / amp3 / DHC Comp4 OCC silver 2.5mm balanced IC / ALO CDM 2.5 mm balanced Input / GE 6021 tubes / Utopia with Comp4 2.5 mm pure OCC silver cable??

I just tried out this week. One hell of transport setup and pure bliss SQ.
Compared to my ALO 3.5 mm normal IC using AMP1, the new DHC comp4 IC 2.5 mm balanced setup blows the normal 3.5 mm away, night and day.

AMP4S put back in box for the meantime.
Might be head to head with my ALO Studio Six. Need to compare side by side anD swap more tubes on both units and see which is best.

DESKTOP VS. TRANSPORTABLE.

I played with similar setups:
(1) DX200 Amp3 + balanced IC + CDM + Sonotone 5719 tubes + Forza Noir + Ether C Flow
(2) DX200 Amp4s + balanced IC + CDM + Sonotone 5719 tubes + Forza Noir + Ether C Flow
Track: B&W Long After You're Gone
(1) richer bass, colder sound, more energy, less airy
(2) less bass, warmer sound, sweeter mids, soundstage is deeper, more air, more going on with the guitars
My preference is (2) for now.

Hi,
I found that Sonotone tube set is a little too lean for my taste.

There is 4.4 mm balanced IC? I thought amp4s does not have Line Out.

This matches what I hear and observe as well

Gosh!.. battery life on this player is piss poor , the only negative thing I have to say about the DX200. I’m using Amp1 SE and it seems I lose 1% after every track . The player also gets way too warm. It’s only a week old , so not sure what’s going on .Already considering sending it back .

Did you update the firmware? There's almost a thousand pages on this player and with a little research, you would find the solution is very simple.

I’m on the latest firmware . This is my second DX200 , so I know all about the battery saving tips . I’m not using any streaming, or WiFi services, not signed into google services etc. I have airplane mode on and just using the player to play native files from sd card . 5hrs play time on SE is very poor in my opinion.

That's what you get with some high-end players. Try Lurkers firmware.

You have The dx150 as well, coming from the DX200 is it that big of a downgrade?. I know the 200 is their flagship but from reviews I’ve read the 150 is no slouch at all . Just in case I return the DX200 I might consider buying the 150 .

It's a great player no doubt. The DX200 is another level completely...but this player is reminiscent of the iconic DX100 to many of us. The sound is fantastic and detailed, the AMP modules more than make up for the differences between the players...and for the price, impossible to beat.

This is a fantastic portable DAP.

Yesterday I was listening with my Monk Lite's to the Shanling M1 then I plugged them into the DX200 and the world of difference was nothing short of astounding
