Plain and simple. I can't figure it out. I'm willing to spend if I have to, but I'm having troubles with Handbrake. Can anyone help?

To the best of my knowledge, all these thing still cause problems. Not in ALL cases... but in enough cases to be a cause of concern and enough cases that it's necessary to point them out so that people can eliminate them from the possible causes of real problems within ViC itself and not a limitation of your particular operating system OR the system of user access you implement on that operating system. In the future, if you post a log... and I see you are not following THIS advice, I cannot continue to help you. 1) Don't store your source video in "Documents and Settings" ("Users" on Vista). 2) Don't create your converted videos in those folders either. This means... don't do it! I don't have time to write a dissertation twice a day on Windows user rights and privileges. Take my word for it or don't ask my advice. I'm not here to teach you how to use Windows, how to create directories or how to cut/copy/paste files. You need to know these things. Incidentally... "The Desktop" is a fictitious place that resides on your hard drive... in Documents and settings (Users for Vista). Don't use it either. Change output directory Change your output directory location in the Settings/Converter menu. Remember to click the "save settings" button when you're done. 3) Don't use non alpha or non-english characters ![]() 4) One period per file name... just before the extension ("video.avi", "video.mpg"... no "this.is.my.a.b.c.video.avi"). 5) Don't steal video. No one distributes movies legally in mkv format. Sorry. I didn't buy 500 DVDs so that I can help you steal steal stuff off the net. 6) Don't ask me anything about YouTube. I'm sorry Red Kawa decided to implement this "feature". I'm not sorry that YouTube defeated the implementation. They don't allow you to steal stuff from them. 7) Look before you leap. There's a waelth of information here. A forum search will work faster than waiting for someone to answer your question (it will be the 300th time they answered that question... and they may be tired... and not answer it quite as well as they did 6 months ago). 8) Don't use "Normal Mode". It causes more problems than it solves. Learn to use Power Mode. Learn what your source video is. Learn what your target video needs to be. Learn how to tell ViC what you want... and you will almost always get exactly what you ask for. I cannot help people using Normal Mode or the VideoWizard anymore. 9) Your source file MUST be able to be played in Windows Media Player (not the old 6.4 classic version) 10) Your .NET framework must be current. I have 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 aqnd all the updates installed. Go to Windows Update to check these things (it's in the "tools" menu in Internet Explorer). If you have a pirated version of Windows and can't update through Microsoft's site, you are out of luck. |
