This is the main discussion thread for all DUNU portable earphone products, created at the behest of members desiring a consolidated portal of discussion.

In the years of DUNU's participation and engagement with the Head-Fi community, we've introduced a wide variety of products --- this thread pertains to the discussion of any and all of them.

Listening impressions, music recommendations, and general banter are all encouraged. If you wish to post a full review of a DUNU product, the Head Gear Showcase system is recommended, with backlinks to this discussion thread. Continued discussion on any of the preexisting DUNU product threads is also encouraged, though many members do wish to have a centralized thread with which to discuss everything.

Thus, as stewards of this discussion thread, we at DUNU will perform housekeeping duties for our discussion threads, updating the first page of this thread with the most up-to-date information and links. DUNU community team members will also be able to answer questions related to DUNU products, development, testing methodology, as well as anything related to hearing health and acoustics in general.

We will allow any discussion to take place on this thread; no active policing will be conducted by DUNU community team members, though we hope discussions will remain civil and well-mannered. Head-Fi member rules and general courtesy apply.

Update Previews for the 2022 Model Year (Update: 12/14/2021)

  1. TITAN S, our entry-level single dynamic driver earphone, will be released imminently, pending a formal announcement. It is already shipping in China as of 12/12.
  2. Products to be released in Q1 2022 include VULKAN, a dual dynamic, quad BA hybrid, as well as the Studio SA4, a quad BA 'little brother' to the venerable SA6.
  3. More development is in the pipeline for the FALCON PRO.
  4. More additions to the Studio series may come in Q2 2022.
  5. Discontinuations
    • LUNA has been sold out completely.
    • Both the DK-3001 PRO and DK-4001 have been discontinued for a number of months.
      Only dealers with remaining stock will have these two models available.

There are a lot of models we haven't included on that list, hence why the status of the post is listed as a "Work in Progress".

Oh, so there are still some other historical, out of production DUNU products left in addition to the I 5C and I 3C-S? Interesting. It would be really nice to see all of the past models included on that list, since it already looked nearly complete to me (even includes the quirky ALPHA 1 that are definitely special and even quite nice, provided one can get a good fit and seal which is definitely a challenge).

Don't know if this post is going against the spirit of the thread. But I'm rediscovering (in a good way) my Dunu Zen (original version)

FiiO LC-RC:
An interesting bag of changes. Nothing earth shattering, but for me, more positives than negatives. The one negative, there's a small increase in white noise, during quiet moments in a song. This could be attributed to the increased soundstage.
The good: I don't feel that I've lost any detail and the width and height of the playback has increased notably. Most importantly (for my Prim A'Donna left ear) there's a nice bump somewhere around the 500 - 1Khz that's helping to holdback the upper bands from taking me over that line of no return/fatigue.

I'm sure Dunu has a cable that can probably do the same. But it was easier for me to just look in my drawer of backup parts.

I'm thinking about selling the SA6 for the FiiO FD7, but I like everything about the SA6 except I would like the bass to be DD sounding. SA6 bass isn't bad by any means, but I would prefer something more substantial there.

You have to define what type of low range response you’re seeking out?

1. Beryllium coated: In your chest sub bass with resonance/slow decay
2. Pure beryllium: Fast and clean, but doesn’t have the strongest relationship with sub bass

I’m currently tweaking the PEQ on my Qudelix-5K, to get the sub bass of No.1 and the vocals and upper frequencies of No.2, out of my Dunu Zen

If you like SA6 but more bass I'd recommend the U12t with M20 module instead. FD7 has good bass but not exactly it's strength. Midrange is where it shines really.
