Dumb question... where's the serial number on a Etymotic MC5 / MC3?

So I'm trying to register my ety mc3 online, and it asks me for my phone's serial number, and it's supposed to be on the phone's body.  Now I've searched up and down the earphone and nowhere do I find any numbers printed!  I've also searched the packaging but the numbers printed there do not seem to be specific to the pair of phones I own... so where did YOU find the serial number?  I've searched "locating mc3 serial number" online and drawn a blank too.  Any help is appreciated.
 
Edit: nvm... it's just asking me to enter the year and month of purchase as the "serial number"

Only the ER4 has the serial engraved on the barrel.
