Sorry for what is probably a very silly question. One of the things I like about this group is that the more experienced audiophiles really do want to teach the less experienced users so here it goes.

WRT to Ultimate Ears, is there a technical reason that the 5cs and sf5p would sound different if they use the same electronics? Do people expect that the 10pro will sound better than the XXX? There seems to be almost universal agreement (both at head-fi and in the press) that the 5cs are better than the sf5p/e4/er4.

Is it all due to the custom fit?

Sorry if this is a silly question, I just don't quite get it.

Thanks

With canals the fit is the most important thing that determine the sound that comes from the armature. If youre are able to get the exact fit for your ears, you will get the most out of your phones. That's the reason why people get more out of their UE5cs than their super.fi. The fit is crucial.
