I modified my Denon D2000's to have detachable 3.5mm jacks and want to recable a D5000 cable to plug into them. I bought a cheap Amazon cable that works fine to hold me over and a set of 3.5mm TS (mono) plugs to solder into the D5000 cables. My question is..did I buy the wrong plugs? I followed the instructions in a thread I found which is why I bought those specific plugs but the more I research, the more I see everyone using TRS plugs (2 black rings) for both the left and right channels.

Would using the TS plugs even work? Would I lose anything?

If they fit your 3.5mm female connectors and the driver wires is positive-tip and negative-ring or sleeve, you're golden. You're 3.5mm mono connectors will work just fine. Some brands uses TR, while others use TS for their 3.5mm connectors, and providing TRS connectors on their stock cables for confusion. Good luck with your cable build.
