I'm looking forward to puchasing a headphone amp, but was wondering if when you see dual inputs advertised (As with the Headroom max, Grace 901, or Meier Corda Pre-head), does that necessarily mean you will be able to play 2 sets of headphones at once? I like the idea of having dual inputs in case I want to listen with a friend, but was wondering if the two inputs were optimized for different sensitivity headphones? Can anyone tell me if the three amps I listed allow two different headphones to be used simultaneously? Thanks in advance, jkat

I think you're looking for dual headphone jacks not inputs. If that is true then if the amps have dual headphone jacks they should, but if the two headphones are not the same impedence and efficiency you will get varying volumes between the two sets of cans. So this means that you will need two of the same cans. Is this what you're asking for and the type of headphone listening you're thinking of?

Edit, the first phrasing could have been rather confusing!

Yes, I did mean headphone Jacks. Thanks for the correction. Since I'm asking questions, here's another-what do you think about processing? Is it a worthwhile feature or does the music suffer? The meier seems to have different levels of processing available - seems like a clever concept. Thanks again

I have never heard the processing of the Meier amp, I would think it's a good thing to have it available at multiple levels based on what I've heard with others. I took a look at the Prehead page and I see that it has two different impedences for the output so what I told you before is NOT correct. Hopefully someone more familiar with them will post, I'm not even sure if they can be used at the same time. I'm guessing the Max probably does fit what I said before and the Grace definitely can drive two of the same headphones at the same time.
