Hello guys! Long time I don't log in but,
I want to do an upgrade, mostly for gaming, and DT990 and anothers beyers are on 50% off, and I think the DT990 is the best right? I'm looking for balance, for both music and (kind of competitive) gaming, and mad lust guide made it seems good for me!
So, I have an X-Fi Titanium, what version should I get? 250 OHM, 32 OHM, 250 OHM PRO or 600 OHM?
Also, i'm thinking in getting the snowball blue condenser microphone, for commentaries and livestreaming, what you guys think of it? Is it appropriated for me?
Thanks a lot!
Happy new year

Yes, good enough for gaming. Music... Not really. It will probably sound decent for music and get enough volume, but I suspect there'll be something to gain with an amplifier. Not that I know, it is of course subjective. If the dt990 is very cheap I'd say go for it.

Thanks man, I would like a headphone for both gaming and music, I was thinking in getting the PC360, but they sound worse than the DT990 for gaming right?
My priority would be like 60% gaming and 40% music, I was afraid to not have enough volume with my soundcard, and since mad lust said without an amp the 32 OHM would get 95% you there, the 250 OHM pro would get you how much % without an amp?
I think maybe more in the future I get an amp...
Thanks again guys!

Here's the basics on the four beyerdynamics in that range:

DT660: closed back, fairly flat frequency response. Good for classical and have good isolation
DT770: closed back, V shaped frequency response (hotter bass and treble) good for EDM and have good isolation
DT880: open backed, fairly flat frequency response. Good all around esp vocals and classical
DT990: open backed, V shaped frequency response. Good for rock and edm.

All of them are good headphones.

The Pro series has higher clamping pressure and coiled dj style cords.

220 and up need an amp for best performance, but a stronger sound card can do ok.

So I think I'm gonna love it, I listen mostly to progressive rock and metal... Thanks a lot for doing this comparision... I don't know if my card is strong enough, I hope it do ok for atleast temporary, I use 50% of windows volume with my Samson SR850 and it is pretty loud already, depending of the source!
Thanks

Also, I have the X-Fi Titanium (not HD), Seems the 50% off is only for the 250 OHM only.. D:

Maybe replace the Titanium (non-HD) with a Sound Blaster Z (OEM, $60), the SB-Z should do a better job of driving the DT990 Pro 250-Ohm headphones.
