Hi,

I'm thinking about selling my Hd600 for a pair of DT 880 250 ohm's but I tried searching Google but didn't get any sufficient results. Are the dt 880's more natural than the HD600? Are the vocals the same, which the HD600 are praised for?

 

I'm aware of the fact that the dt 880's are very comfortable and better(?) bass and sub bass, I already own the dt 990 pro's and I like the comfort.

 

Also is there a difference between the 250 ohm and 600 ohm version?

The 600 ohm version has a bit of a more balanced out sound. Vocals are better on HD600, I think, but you are right that Dt880 has better bass. What music do you listen to?

I have the HD600s and previously owned the DT880/250 ohm.  I hated the DT880s.  They were among the driest and lifeless cans I have ever heard.

I don't think the HD600s are any less detailed than the DT880s.  However, the HD600s are definitely more laid back and smooth, which makes the the DT880s appear to be more detailed at first listen.
 
The DT990s have more bass and more treble sizzle than the DT880s.  Also, the DT990s have a wider soundstage.  The DT990s have a more recessed mid range as well than the DT880s. 
 
Basically, the DT990s are more fun and alive than the DT880s, and eq'ing the DT880s won't make them into the DT990s.

Almost as much detail.  Some of it gets masked because the midbass bump that bleeds into the mids.  And, there's just more meat on the bones to begin with, that can hide some of the smallest details.

Nothing acoustic then, I take it?  Try DT880, you will probably like it.  It rocks.
 
I had DT990Pro a while ago briefly.  The excessive bass and ~700Hz hole combined with the 5kHz peak really ruin the sound for me.  If you want somewhat of a preview of DT880 by EQ'ing DT990, reduce the 10kHz and 5kHz peaks, boost 700Hz, and reduce the bass around 80-90 Hz and low mids at 400Hz.

HD600 is one of the most flat sound headphone. 
In contrast, DT880 has its own coloring sound and strong bass..so it is recommended to rock.
If you prefer natural sound, just keep HD600.

Hmmm, one could certainly take issue with that. The DT880 is one of the most neutral phones around, including the bass, which I'd describe more as balanced than 'strong'. It's known to be ideal for classical.

I just got a pair of DT880 250s and spent the last few hours comparing them with my HD600s. These are some initial impressions of the two ...

I'd say that, while the DT880 has better bass and more detailed highs, the HD600's awesome mids make it the more natural sounding of the two. The DT880 has a wider but more 2D soundstage; the HD600's soundstage is more 3D and again more natural. With the DT880 you are more aware that you're wearing headphones, whereas the HD600 sounds much closer to listening to a pair of speakers in a room.

I think the DT880 is less of an all-rounder than the HD600, but might be better for faster music that needs a good bass response. I'd almost certainly favour the DT880 for hip hop or electronica/techno.

DT880 is also much more comfortable to wear!

My roommate had a pair of dt880s 250ohm and my good bud had hd600s so I've become quite familiar with their sounds. Overall, I'd say that the hd600s beat the dt880s in almost every way (especially when amp'ed well). The neutrality of the hd600s is great and if you get a nice tube amp like the bottlehead crack, it'll sounds absolutely blissful.

They are really different headphones. 
For me, dt880 provides more details and better bass, though 600 gives more bass
