aren't they of the same material? velour? correct me if I'm wrong. I think their enclosure size is v similar so you should be able to fit the dt880 pads on to the dt770.
How is the sound of dt880 compared to dt770?

well i dont have the 880's i was just wondering since the pads look so nice. though that i could just order them

What is the flange diameter on the 770s? I will throw a caliper on the 880s tonight. Although the 880s feel smaller than the 931s, it may be the same pad. Same silver velour cover, but the 880s seem to have something softer inside. Whatever they did the 880s are more comfortable to me than the 931s (right out of the box, anyway). Oddly enough the 880s only have a single flange that the pad skirt fits over. On the 831/931 the skirt goes over one flange and is then trapped against the headphone body. Just a different approach I guess.
