Well, I guess the subject line says it all. I can find the DT880s on headroom, but they seem like a lot compared to what I've seen some people say you can get them for in a few of these threads (something like 225?). Where could I get them for that much? I'm kinda unsure about buying them from someone in the gear for sale/trade section though...but if that's the only option...

Also, are there any better amps for maybe ~100 dollars that I could get? Aside from the META42? Someone mentioned a revo...no idea what that is or how much. Links?

Thanks for any help.

2-3 weeks, no big deal. A revo is a souncard not an amp...

For $100 you can also check out the supermini, or look into getting a CHA47 built.

the DT880 is going for $245 but add another $20 (i guesss!) for dollar conversion. check with Jan for a quote. that doesn't leave much for an amp.

lifeonaplate: Jan sells the DT880 for US$ 220, if you order it in combination with a headphone amp. Nevertheless, the PortaCorda(II) is US$ 195, so the cheapest DT880/Corda-combo would already cost US$ 415. It's a nice combo, though. The only drawback is that you'd need to connect an external power supply, because if the PC(II) is only fed with a 9V battery/rechargable, you'll probably run into clipping problems for output levels >~ 80 dB (well, at least I do in my sofa configuration...).

Hello life, I have the 880's and the porta corda II,and a maxed meta built by JMT.I can only tell you my experience,so for what its worth, the 9v corda amp didn't do the job. There wasn't enough push from the amp to enjoy the beyers.

Thats when I stumbled on to the meta,in the sale forum. It uses 2ea. 9v batteries and I can tell you,it was one of the best buys ($200) I have made in the short time I've been on this site. Between the 880's @ $200, used, although like new,and the maxed meta, used but like new, I am very pleased with the combo. It also has the wall wart for 110v.

Until I upgrade to somewhat higher end equipment, this will do just fine. The only other investment you should "strongly" plan on is>>>>>>>>4ea. rechargeable 9v batteries. Once the money is spent, you won't look back. Many smiles ahead.......................... All this is of course IMO. Best of luck
