[MaZa]

This is something I have wondered a while now, and havent found an answer. For example, Thomann has DT880 2005 and some new DT880 Pro model for sale. Thing is, the pro one is cheaper, so what is the difference? Besides some few differences (atleast in pics, not sure about in person), they look very similar and specs are same.

not sure about current models

but in the past the main difference was clamping force in the head band (pro = stronger clamp) and cable (pro = coiled) and sometimes the earpad material (pro = pleather)

This time, the Pro has coiled cable too, but judging from the pics Pro one has velour pads just like 2005 one.
IF only real difference is the clamping force, the Pro model seems decent a bargain as you can always stretch the headband for 2005 sound... unless Pro sounds better with higher clamping force that is...

result is slightly more pronounced bass and sorer head

someone should confirm this, as beyerdynamic may have shifted direction...

but DT880 pro is fairly new... not many reports here on it

880 Pro has -no- bass at all.. and theyr'e ugly

05's are better at everything.

Are you sure you are talking about the pro which MaZa is talking about? From what I've heard. It's the 2003 and earlier models who do not have bass. The pro which MaZa is talking about looks like the 2005 model.

I used the DT880 Pro when I tested the headzone Pro last christmas, and found it to be very similar to the regular 2005 DT880.
I don't remember much about the clamping force, but it might have been more than the regular. It was still comfortable, though.

afaik the only premiumline beyers w/ pleather pads are the DT770-M. They're also the only model with inline volume control.
