i've had that annoying rattle for time now and finally decided to have a go at inspecting the problem myself after reading some advice on the forum about hair.
turns out that hair was indeed inside and the rattle is gone! however..a couple years ago, I had a local music shop replace the cable lead with a coily one and apparently their soldering job was questionable because a couple of the wires inside broke loose when i went to secure the driver back inside one of the cans.
unfortunately for me, I didnt see where these cables were soldered before it happened and now only one speaker is outputting. im hopeful that someone here can take a look at the posted pic and tell me which goes where. hopefully the picture quality and angle is ok.
the two wires on the far right are the loose ones. one is white and the other is copper. I thought they were both supposed to attach to the far right post judging on their position when loose but that didnt work. the cable going to the working speaker has the white going to the middle post and copper to the far right (ground?). my next attempt was going to be to attach them like this but figured I should ask first to avoid any more problems.
I've got a multimeter but dont know enough to have it help me through this. sorry for the long post
