HI, i am thinking of getting my first good pair of headphones, and have narrowed my choices to these two. Can someone give some feedback on each. I am mostly using it for both gaming (bf2142) and music. I will also be getting the Xenos 0HA-REP amp to go with whichever one i get. I found both of these headphones for under $150. If you recommend another, please don't reccommend anything over $200

The HD595 is a really nice can. Sound is nicely balanced, and they are comfortable. I would go with them if I were you.

Yep, the 595 are nice balanced cans, the 770 more fun and bassy. But you know what? The bottom line is that both cans are really, really, surprisingly good. And surprisingly high-end audiophile headphones.

So it's a wonderful dilemma - get set to have fun, whichever you pick.

Don't listen to greggf.

It's not a wonderful dilemma. If you think it's a wonderful dilemma, you're going to be royally screwed as you spend hundreds and thousands of dollars exploring dichotomy after dichotomy.

Pick the HD595 and go.

Edit: add smileys so people know I jest.

I can tell you this the best bass ive heard is on the beyers. when i play games the dt770 80 ohm was awsome. every explosion cerates a rush of endorphins in your head it sounds so good. these cans are fun real real fun and can be upgrade to sound way better games are their specialty. I would say based on the reviews of the hd5xx they would be better all around cans. but honestly i dont think you could go wrong with either.

The 770/80's don't, nor do the 770 32ohm version. Though I believe the 80's drive easier than the 32's.

At this point, i think i am leaning towards the senns for 2 reasons: current responses and the fact that they are open (so i can hear if my parents call granted the volume is not too high)

I have one question about open cans though. How loud can other people hear what i am listening to. I don't want to bother people at night (we have really thin walls).

Also, will my x-fi be able to drive the 595 (bc if it can, then i will wait for a little longer to get the amp, since its kinda expensive for me and my flat wallet)

BTW: for those of you who think i should get something else, don't worry; I won't be ordering anything any time soon. I need to get sell the computer i am building first.

Yes, you can drive them with x-fi.

Hearing headphones through walls....eh, doubtful. How thin is thin? Can you talk to your neighbor through the wall without raising your voice?

From what you can hear with open cans, it's highly doubtful even if you push them to output 100+ dB (if within the cans cushions). It'll be audible in the room, but doubtful it'll go through sheetrock.

i doubt ppl can hear the hd595s through the walls unless you have it at mndblowing volumes. the x-fi is good for it, and u can add bass boost too.
