I want to recable my DT770/80s as I want a shorter cable, and maybe a higher quality one. As I live in Norway, shipping them back and forth is quite expensive. I have used a soldering iron before, and would like to get som finished cables, but to solder them/mount them myself. Does anyone offer such a service?

DT770 really aren't worth recabling man, I have to tell you.

You could go to a local shop and have them shorten it for you, but I certainly wouldn't spend anything over $50 recabling DT770s, and even that's a bit much.

Yeah... to me i feel the same way. If recabling is really a must... perhaps you should concider Darths because the recable is all tied into that and hes apparently a miracle worker.

lots and lots of darth fanboys on here. I'm sure you can find a ton of them who will tell you that you should go that route whereas there arent gonna be many poeple who will suggest recabling on its own.

Most people would say just re-terminate them.

With that said, I have a mini-mini IC (see sig) that I'm going to recycle into a headphone cable for my DT770's when I have no use for it

In my experience, DT770's don't benefit from a recable as much as a DT880 or DT990 would.

Using sub par cable will impair SQ IME. Best to use higher quality wire like Jena, TWcu, Nucleotide.. just a few I can think of.

If anything a recable does help smooth the sound a bit.

DT770s can't be fixed by any cable, they sound awful. DT880/990 are night and day better, or HD600. Lots of places will sell you a solder-your-own cable.
