i was just wondering about the clamping force of these compared to the senn580's

also, would they compliment my 580's and ms-1's more than an a700 would? i'm getting one (a700) from a friend to try out. i use my 580's as my good pair of headphones, my ms-1's as my fun headphone, while this next pair will be my comfortable headphone used for everything (music, movies, etc.)

I just got mine today and fresh out of the box, they really don't have that much clamping force at all. Very comfortable headphone. I would dare say the second most comfy I've ever tried. The first being the inferior (sq wise) HD 570.

hm maybe i will scrap my a700 deal and get me a pair of those dt770s

Edit: wait spiN, you think the dt770's are less comfortable than senn's?...that's odd...i've never heard that before. i've heard that the dt770's have a bit of a clamp to them and i do know that the 580's have a clamping force as well

The clamping force really is minimal to be honest. It's just enough to keep them on your head, but they really are damn comfy. The only reason why I say the HD 570s are more comfortable is because they're lighter and the earcups are more earshaped rather than the DT770's round earcups. But please, don't misinterpret. The DT770s are really damn comfortable.

Most people will find the beyers to be more comfortable than the Senn HD580. I personally own both, and it's worlds of difference in comfort. They have much less clamp force, and the pads are softer and cooler on the head.

These headphones are very comfy, and great for extended listening periods such as movies or games. Plus, you already have the option of upgrading them down the road to woodys.

I never owned the A700, didn't like the comfort of the AT's.
If you do end up getting both though, it should be interesting to see which you keep and what you like better.

I own both DT770 and the A700 and found them to be both equally as comfortable. Both cans I can wear for hours with no problems of my ears getting hot or sweaty. Those that do sweat alot or live where the weather can get extremely warm may have some comfort issues with the A700. The DT770 like the A700 doesn't clamp your head like a vise-gripe. At least to my head, both cans rest comfortably with enough clamping force to keep them from fall off when I move about.

Well the A700 doesn't sound as good as your HD580s. The DT770s have too much bass for me, but then if you're looking for more of a compliment to your MS1 and HD580, my vote is the DT770. You might enjoy it for trip hop and rap. Because it's closed and are comfortable, they're also popular for gaming and movies.

Bass!! The A700s are more like the HD580s then the DT770s are. Get the DT770s for added bass.
