Id like some reassuring please. I ordered the 250ohm version. I do use an amp. Little bit of 300$ anxiety kicking it. Whats better? Humor me, if you must.

Also, I ordered them this week. Do you think they will be 2005 editions? I sure hope so. Or do they cost more, and are listed as 2005 edition?

.. Boring "work" is killing me right now.

Well, IIRC, in old versions 250ohm one has one helluva bass, but really recessed mids. 80ohm has little less bass, but more balanced mids. Both are still bass monsters. 80ohm is still considered better because of its better mids and bit less boomy bass.

Nah, a ghetto store downtown. He had to order them in from his supplier. The bad thing is .. he phoned me last night and asked if I wanted 80 or 250 ohm .. I told him 250 :0

OR call him back and say you did a mistake. You were supposed to order 80ohm version. If you ordered them last night, perhaps he hasnt sent the order yet. If he has, most likely the supplier is that fast that your pair would be on its way already. Atleast i havent seen that fast supplier here.

So give it a try and see if its possible to change your order?

Only you know if they should be 2005 model, or pre-2005. Only YOU know the (Beyer) order ID# on your receipt (new 2005's are 481.785), the accompanying illustration, and your vendor. How can anyone give you a cogent answer? ............what I can tell you is that the pre-2005 770-80 is still the preferred version for modding into Darth Beyers', and that the only post(s) I recall that detailed impressions about new 2005 version(s) were written by Skylab - it would be interesting for you to do a search for his posts in that regard.

I've heard all three DT770 Beyerdynamics (DT770-250, DT770-80 and DT770 v2005) and owned the DT770-80 and DT770-250 and I prefer the DT770-80 to the others. The new DT770 v2005 sounds more like the DT770-80 than the DT770-250 but it still lacks the sweet mids of the DT770-80 - that 'phone's mids remind of the DT880 (which is a good thing). The DT770-250 has the most bass of the 3 but its midrange is also the weakest. I actually prefer the DT250 series to all the DT770s, and I prefer the 250ohm variant of the DT250 rather than the 80ohm version. Furthermore, I prefer the AKG K271S to all the Beyer sealed cans (in fact the K271S is my favorite sealed headphone), but the DT250-250 can be considered its equal (though every pair I've owned sounded a bit too dark and recessed in the treble), and the DT770-80 may also be considered an equal if one prefers more bass impact and doesn't mind a slight decrease in midrange quality compared to the DT250-250 and K271S. Don't forget the ATH-A900 for the most forward presentation (and also usability without an amplifier) and the A900LTD is slightly more distant and expansive than the standard A900 (I think I prefer the standard) - the A900LTD sounds like it's trying to sound like the K271S but it lacks the midrange naturality. The woody ATs are another matter entirely, but they are much pricier than the AKGs and Beyers and they don't isolate nearly as well. There's also the Sennheiser HD25-1 to consider for portable purposes (upgrade that steel cable, though) and of course the Senn HD280 is another option for the most attenuation (though I find its sound anemic). Sorry for the rambling but I'm compiling! To conclude the DT770-80 is my preferred DT770!
