Well, after my previous "comfortable, closed, good midrange, any type of soundstage" topic, I've decided on getting the Beyerdynamics DT250-250s. I'd like to know as much as possible about them (and yes, I've read almost all previous posts).

What cheap amp would do them justice? Would an Chaintec AV710 be a good-enough source for my 128-320kbps mp3s? Is there any worthwile mod? (cable upgrade, pads and the such)? Are they really as though as I've heard?

How small are the earcups anyway? I know this sounds silly, but can somebody who finds them comfortable (not touching the ears, or touching them in a mild fashion) give me several meaningful measurements of their ears? (maximum width, maximum height, maximum distance from head)

Earcups are exactly the same size as the Sony V6 or 7506 headphones. If you don't have small ears, they will touch the cups. I've run mine off a little Xin Supermini and it was about 80% of as good as they sound out of my PPA, so a cmoy should be just fine.

I know this sounds weird, but can you please measure your ears?

I'd like to know what's the size upto which they would not touch the pads... I mean, i don't mind touching, but I'd hate having to tuck in my ear lobes

I had a problem with the size of the earcups on the dt250. My ears fit in the cups, but the pads rubbed up against various parts of the back of my ear. I found it very uncomfortable. That and the lack of bass on the phones caused me to sell my pair.
