I bought DT 990 600ohm and i love the sound.

I am using schitt Magni 3 and Modi combo and in Windows 10 x64 my volume is at 100% and on my Magni i have to put the volume almost at max level to have a decent volume listening for my taste...

Do you think my DT 990 are broken or amp not enough power?

Is the Modi connected to the motherboard using USB or optical or coaxial?
Try installing the free program Foobar2000 (with WASAPI component installed) and play some music files, see if you can get the audio any louder. Foobar2000/WASAPI will bypass the Windows OS audio.

If the Modi is being powered by the motherboard, by USB, maybe the motherboard's USB port is not supplying enough power to the Modi, which might mean the Modi RCA output ports are not outputting full voltage and there for not feeding as strong a signal as needed.

Try removing the Modi and connect the Magni straight to the motherboard's on-board audio, set the on-board audio to 2-Channel Speaker Output (not Headphone Output), see if the audio gets louder.

Sound was loud and fine with V-Moda m100, DT 770 80ohm and Hifiman HE-400i. Im connected using usb 3.0 in the back of the motherboard and listening to flac songs i bought on 7digital. I dont think my motherboard is the problem https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-HERO/ I will try Foobar2000

Ok.
Me, I would sell off the DT990 Premium 600-Ohm and replace it with the Soundmagic HP200 headphones.
Also I would assume the Hifiman HE-400i would be better, over all, then the DT990.

I really prefer the v sound bass and treeble of DT 990. I dont like HE 400i the bass is almost non existant i might exchange my DT 990 for another pair maybe mine are defect.

Contact Schiit, see if they have any ideas.

Way back in the day I had a T1 and was looking for something inexpensive to drive the T1s for video gaming,as I had my tube amp connected in another system.
I contacted Schiit regarding the MU2 and their response was essentially:

It will drive the T1s,but not very well. Get something more powerful.

The T1 has a 102db sensitivity. The DT990 has a 96db sensitivity,meaning the DT990 is harder to drive than the T1.

Granted the Magni 3 is more powerful than the Magni 2 Uber, but im guessing you need a stronger amp. Just a semi-educated guess.

Any recommandation for a better amp but not too expensive because Schitt told me to get valhalla but its like 400$ here in Canada.

With the new amp can i keep the Modi DAC?

I see no reason why you can't still use the Modi. I have one in my living room system feeding a 1970s receiver driving speakers.
I suggest starting a new thread asking for amp recs for the dt990s. I'm guessing most responses will be some sort of tube amp like the Darkvoice.
