My wife has agreed to go with me to B & H Photo on my birthday, hehehe.

I have been planning to pick up the DT 880s there for a while, but, you know, the fact that I already have too many cans keeps me from pulling the trigger.

But a Birthday gift is a free ride, a bonus, the jackpot, a free lunch, no?

I would be trying to compliment/upgrade my current cans (HD580, AKG 501, Beyer 250-250, SR60). Use is with my old Onkyo receiver (circa 1976) and ipod/line-out.

My only hesitation is that for portable use, my amp is the PAV2. I am planning to upgrade to the AE-1 or Hornet pretty damn soon, hehehe.

Should I just "let" her buy them for me?? (And no, I don't mind getting the current stock and not waiting for the new lines to come out.)

You ought to email that 880 smiley to the powers-that-be for inclusion in the smilies list. Looks great.

Then I would totally go for the cans! You can always worry about amps later, the cans are what you build around IMO

Thanks.

I wouldn't turn down an AE-1 as another present!!!
