hi, i'm going to buy a headphone and need some suggestions whether to choose the dt 770 or dt 831 from beyerdynamic. they will be mainly used for hifi [ambient, electro, ska, (philipp glass)].

please help!

If you want a lot of deep bass, get the DT-770. Although that heapdhone has a ton of bass, the midrange and treble is still quite articulate.

If you don't want all that bass, the DT-831 might be better fit, but most people find it bright and the bass a little anemic. If open headphones are a possibility, you might want to look into the DT-931 or the DT-880.

Both DT-770 and DT-831 require a good amp.

IMHO, the DT-770s will fit the bill quite nicely.
