Hi to you all, and happy new year.

I'm thinking buying one of this headphones, but I don't know if an iphone or an ipod has sufficient amp power to amp the 250 Ohm version? Should I be concerned with that?

What are your opinions?

Thanks!

Frankly, I would NOT select even the 80 ohm version, unless I also had a decent amp to use with the rig (meaning no $60-100 will cut the mustard). Those luscious low notes n-e-e-d power.

In the event I have a decent amp, is there a difference in bass between them?

IIRC 250ohm one is said to have stronger bass, but also less balanced. Might be the way they were amped though.

Hi!
I'm also going to buy DT 770 pro's and I'm wondering which model would be better... I've searched quite a lot, and it seems to me that almos everybody has the 80 ohm version. And like Maza said, the 250 ohm version has a little more bass, but it is a little bit lower quality. I've heard that earlier, too. And not one has sayd, that 80 ohm has too little bass

So, is there any good reason for going for the bigger impedance (I don't have to put several HPs to the same amp/source, so no "studio" use...)?

And the other thing is the amp. I was thinking about buying a pretty cheap (like 60 USD) portable amp, which also has a DC power possibility. Would it do the trick, or should I go straight for something better, like The Headsix or Total Airhead, for example.

Logically thinking, no. 80ohm would serve the purpose better.

It depends what you use as your source. If you are using some atleast decent soundcard, they are able to match (or even surpass) the amplifier circuit built-in most cheap portable amps. If you are using portable mp3 player or such, atleast decent portable amplifier should provide a good power boost.

Headsix coming in the mail, but DT770-80's coming out of an X-fi is a little too quiet for me, volume tab has to be way up at 90% to get my listening levels and that's not counting movies, while HD555 only need 60%.
