Does anybody have any experience driving high impedance headphones (yes I'm talking about DT880/600's) directly from the speaker terminals of a power amp?

I've Googled it and it seems that its fairly common in professional sound applications but don't see much about it on here and I need more confidence before I try it.

I'm thinking of maybe using an L pad attenuator if I have to, but preferably not.
The amps I'm thinking of were either a Naim power amp (Nac140), which I think is about 50watts or maybe a small 1980's integrated called a Cyrus 2 which is about the same power.

All you need to know is in this thread - sure, it specifies HE500's and Emotiva amp but the techniques and advice are universal...

Thanks Eddie. I'd read most of that thread and it was one of the reasons I'm interested in trying it, but as it was talking about balanced headphones with a much lower sensitivity, I didn't know how applicable it was. I've just read the rest of the thread and reckon it'll be worth a try.
