Hi, this is a question to DR7/DS8 owners who own both D66 and ER4P (I know there are a few of you here that own both

). Can you describe how big the difference in sound and the specific changes going from the D66 to the ER4P on the DR7? I am currently using the D66 and they sound great. just wondering how big a jump the ER4P would provide.

I am currently debating whether to go for ER4P or DS8. is the Dolby headphone on the DS8 useful in anyway cause it cuts battery life in half from what I read. thanks,

I wish I had the ER-4Ps to comment for you, but I do have the DS8, and I can tell you that i along with most others (not all) find no use for the Dolby H DSP. Other than being nifty and having the "Dolby" logo on your remote, etc-- it doesn't mean much to me, I never use it. If anything it's annoying that I have to hold down the Dolby button for a second or 2 to get to the bass settings.

I use the DR7 with the D66s and love it. I think the added output on the DR7 above the DS8 helps the DR7 produce more detailed sound, but maybe that's just me. I do enjoy my DS8, but I would only get it if I were you if you really need/want something thinner and lighter. My bet would be that an ER-4P user would tell you there's a marked difference in the sound quality between it and the D66s (there should be for the price difference and for the amazing things I've heard about the Etys), but I prefer to live in ignorance and enjoy my D66 eggos

It's easier on the wallet.

EDIT: Doh, swalker seems to find that the dolby H DSP sounds quite excellent on his Etys, but that doesn't help you decide between the 2 does it, hehehe.... http://www4.head-fi.org/forums/showt...threadid=40368
