Why installing the Fiio E17 ASIO Driver?

Audio Stream Input/Output (ASIO) is a computer sound card driver protocol for digital audio specified by Steinberg, providing a low-latency and high fidelity interface between a software application and a computer's sound card. ASIO bypasses the normal audio path from a user application through layers of intermediary Windows operating system software so that an application connects directly to the sound card hardware. Therefore, E17 could provide the best sould quality for you.

The downloading and installation Guide for Fiio E17 ASIO Driver Beta Version
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before installing the driver, please reset your music player as below:

XP/WIN7 system:

>> Foobar2000. Need to download the attachment first(foo_out_asio.zip), copy
the contained three files to the following folder:\Program Files\foobar2000
\components.

>> TTPlayer. Built-in ASIO driver, not need for plugin.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, after all those preparations, let's start installing the driver:

Install Asio driver for Windows XP

1, Install Asio driver for E17, run "E17AudioSetup.exe"

2, Run Foobar2000 and select output as "FiiO E17 ASIO DRIVER"

3, Now we can run FiiO E17 ACPL" to set playback audio stream format.

Install Asio driver for Windows 7

1, The installing is almost the same as installing Windows XP.
2, The FiiO E17 ACPL should not be set as "Auto"

Also.

1, Because the device codes of E10,E17,E07K are different, After installing the driver,if you had already installed the other Fiio decoder(other than E7), please uninstall it first to make sure your computer could recognize the device.

2, If you had run more than one music player,  you are not allowed to choose "FiiO E17 ASIO DRIVER" for both players, please choose"FiiO E17 ASIO DRIVER" for one player and the others choose SPDIF OUT(FiiO USB DAC-E17).

Lastly, the foo_out_asio.zip and the FiiO E17 ASIO DRIVER are attached as below:

Hi bowei006, it is OK that you continue using WASAPI, we devceloped this driver to boost some cpmputers that have limited hardware resources, for those that have adequate hardware resources, there is no difference in sound quality after installing it.

OK, the main reason that we release the ASIO driver is that some user complained about that the E17 can not work in their PC/laptop, so ASIO is a option for them to make the E17 work.

Of course, at the other hand, the ASIO do help increase the SQ if your PC's hardware is too old to run several task at the same time, it is said, it does not help the SQ , it help you get the

original SQ that should be.

I honestly like this driver more than my old ASIO one. Before I would have to close Foobar(on pause) to have Youtube play and vice versa. Now both can play simultaneously. Not like I'll ever need it like that but it saves me the hassle to close-reopen my programs. Thanks :)

What about the E7?, interms of increasing the SQ i think the E7 also deserve the ASIO driver also.. IMHO

Hi, I also followed the instructions above and installed the drivers as described...

However, the spectrum (and others like Spectrum or VU Meter) of Foobar experiences something like reduced frames per second..when I switch the output back to E17 Soundwave everything goes back to their smooth normals...once the playback paused and came back in a few seconds....
dont know why this happens as in both cases even the CPU usage is the same on average.
(system is a slow one Win XP, 1.8 dual core and 1 Gb of RAM)

Are you able to try this with a faster computer..as in current one? 64bit foobar instal, 4GB's of RAM, 2.4GHz core 2 duo or AMD equivalent with a doable average GPU?

The graphs on usage may not show it but sometimes, things like these programs rely on your parts performance to fully get smooth rates shown
