Hi guys. i was just interested if you keep your double albumd split into seperate folders/albums in your portable players.. or combine them into one big folder.

until now,i always used to seperate them,so they will be just like the original cds, but lately i arranged all my music in my ipod and put some pictures too.
in the "cover flow" feature and also if you sort by albums, it looke better to keep the album as one folder, it looke much nicer and convenient that way,
and anyway...it's not like you have to change cd's or something...just scroll down for about one second. (with bigger albums it may more of an issue, but even that's not so big of a deal).

thx!

Using iTunes I rip them into 2 and then rename both to the same album name and rearrange the track numbers of the second cd to follow after the last track on the first cd. This is especially essential when ripping longer classical works like operas that come on several cd's.

I use disc tag, Squeezebox shows disc number- track - title. Doesn't matter if they're in the same directory or not, I do split them into directories but EAC does that, but the album name must be the same.

actually i think that i'll do that also in my double cd's....name them all in 1 name. instead of: "the wall cd1" and "the wall cd2" just "the wall".
in ipod they will appear as one big cd. i don't mind that.

but a question...isn't it adviceable to keep the second cd number as cd 2 and all the tracks under it in their original numbers and only change the album name?
or maybe it doesn't matter....
thx for the replies!

I'd keep filename, track tagging, and in seperate directories, and only use disc tag. Here's how slim center handles it.

i have another question if i may...

is it ok to arrang the music in ipod manually without using the itunes library at all? i just erased all my music from itunes because i had an awful mess there!
i just hope this is ok for the ipod..because i just started to experience some problems with it. it stuck a little on certain songs. not in the playing of the songs...but in the volume line and the song's title displaying.
maybe it because of the album art pictures? or maybe because i played with the tags too much...taged and changed and changed my mind and tagged again....

Changing tags depends on your system, my layout may not work the best for itunes

You mean for

Micheal Jackson Ultimate CD1
Micheal Jackson Ultimate CD2
Micheal Jackson Ultimate CD3
Micheal Jackson Ultimate CD4

You changed it to
Micheal Jackson Ultimate
Micheal Jackson Ultimate
Micheal Jackson Ultimate
Micheal Jackson Ultimate

Can you arrange it like mine with disc number in itunes?

i don't think... if i put disc number in the end of the album name it will recognize it as a different album.

i don't know why my ipod started to redpond a bit slowly(at least on the screen) to some actions...like changing the volume or when displaying the song's information slow.
kind of frustrating. before i put the covers and the tagging that did not happen.

You're not getting it, there is a seperate "disc" tag info, if itunes can also show disc number, sort by that. Winamp can do this, so disc 1 track are first then disc 2 tracks.

yes, it's like that with my setup too. the tracks didn't get mixed up,theyare in their right order. i hope i got you this time mate...
