I was auctioning my used GTA game on ebay and some guy with 0 feedback that just opened his account
won the auction using a sniper and has yet to pay or respond to my emails.

we are on day two.

Im pretty bummed out about this. This is why I HATE auctions :P

as a seller you can set your auction filters to not allow bidders without a certain number of feedback, positive only feedback, even what country the bidder is from. helps get rid of the riffraff.

Do this - goto preferences, and select this bunch-

Buyer requirements

Block buyers who:
Are registered in countries to which I don't ship
Have a feedback score of -1 or lower
Have received 2 Unpaid Item strikes in the last 30 days
Don't have a PayPal account

The safest way would be if he was Paypal verified. It doesn't look much like a scam since he is planning on paying for it through Paypal. My suggestion would be make him pay first and then ship it to his friend in Africa.

I recently purchased an item from a guy who had Zero feedback on ebay and was unverified with Paypal... It was the best transaction I have ever experienced, the guy was absolutely "top notch" from start to finish.

Very true and good point. Everyone has to start somewhere. I tend not to be overly skeptical of people as long as they are honest and up-front with their business. The red light comes on for me if they are obviously shady or pull the African scam.

i sold a bunch of my record collection to a guy in europe who had no feedback, was a new user and wanted to pay through his "friend" named "john smith" i had never been more sketched out about a transaction in my entire life, but his echeck came, and cleared, and i sent my records out and he happily recieved them. i was sure i was about to get scammed and i didnt.

its pretty easy to not get scammed if youre the seller and you just dont send anything out until the money is already completely cleared into your paypal account. but yeah, rnb probably got served, at least it was on a video game and not on something bigger though...

my only problematic ebay transaction ever was when someone with 15 feedback won 2 concert tickets from me on ebay. he then refused to pay and left me negative feedback for not sending him the tickets before he paid. good ole being reasonable...

It's a classic scam called the "Nigerian Bank Scam".

The variant on eBay is a classic scam where an unverified buyer wants to have the item shipped to an entirely different location other than the PayPal verified address. This scam is where the buyer has used a stolen/hacked PayPal account. The buyer thinks they received the funds first and sends the item. A few days later they find their PayPal account frozen due to the stolen/hacked PayPal account was reported.

This scam also happens where someone wants to do a local pickup, pays via PayPal first.

This is a classic scam, beware.

Unless the buyer used a stolen paypal account. I have heard of Paypal just taking money back that was paid from stolen accounts.

Scam Fighters This is the first site I visited. Apparently 419 is the common name for this type of crime. After reading about a bunch of 419 Scam Busters, I learned that I was not the only one who 'wastes' precious time baiting and dragging these thieves into an e-mail battle. Mine started last year when some BARRISTER told me that my cousin Mark had died, yada yada.
I have this guy e-mailing me back and forth as I do the most I can to waste their time. The only reason I never posted it here is because it is primarily out of Africa and it could appear to be against black people, when it truly IS NOT. I will scam-bait anyone I can.!! Dang scammers

the last one I got was some company in turkey "that has been using paypal for the past 28 years" so they are not new to it and I can trust them

i told them I only accept payment in bits of string and they told me that they were not sure what I ment but they will look into it and try to work something out
