Dog bit AD 700 cord... (Can it be fixed?)

So long story short is my dog bit through the cable because my kid knocked the headphones on the ground.  Anyways I cut the cable up to where the bite mark is gone but I cant splice them back together well enough.  I've tried getting these things back together with no luck at all.  I've tried burning all the fabric off around the cables, putting them together with electrical tape and everything and still have issue's with them cutting in and out in one ear or another or just being super quiet at times.  Sometimes they work fine but most of the time there's a problem. 
 
Am I doomed to have this issue forever until I replace them?  Does anyone have a good guide for repairing these or a good video?

Bump, anyone have any suggestions?  I know they aren't super expensive headphones, but I'd rather not throw away $100.
