I'm thinking about buying a pair to balance them.
does the 501's have a larger sound stage then the 340/701's?

Hi Alex,
Yes, the 501s & 701s both share that wide soundstage quality and I think they would make an awesome balanced phone for you. I would highly suggest picking up the k701 pads and foam disk as an additional mod!
