Does Sennheisser mark their cans for the blind?

I just noticed that on my HD555 there are three vertical bumps on the left side, above the letter "L," however, those same three vertical bumps are not on the right.

I instantly assumed that this is braille so that blind people know how to put on their Senns correctly. Is this so?

Note: I don't know braille, but I'm assuming that the three dots mean left side. Of course, I could be wrong.

tho i doubt with phones like the hd555 it would be that hard to determine which cup goes on which ear, no?

call me an idiot, but looking at that model, I always have to think about which side is which, because to me the correct L-R positioning looks unnatural. And I honestly think Sennheiser uses braile out of courtesy rather than sheer practicality.

Same for me, I always have to look for L and R.
One of the reasons to love my SR225 as well , Cannot miss them !

Now that you mention it, I have always thought that the cans looked better worn the other way (with the "swing" arms in front), so I was surprised when I got them and saw that the correct positioning is with them at the back.

Don't all single cable entry cans have the cable on the left side? That's how I always determine which way is left. I know the models mentioned aren't single entry, but I figured I'd ask.

You can add the DT-770 and, I would assume, all the other Beyerdynamics. I'm pretty sure left side is the standard.

Ditto for 2005 DT990 + braille symbols on right side

No such markings on my W5000, of course, it'd be very easy to notice if you put them on backwards; they feel like Grados!

I think Sennheiser marks all of their fullsize headphones! I noticed the braille on the left side when I first took the HD477 in my hands. Same thing goes with the HD555. And honestly, I think braille looks hot! Doesn't all the other "quality manufacturers" do the same?

That's probably why I love Sennheiser. Attention to details, and not only sonic ones!

HD201 here has the three dots, but it's a y-style cable. I believe Sennheiser just adds the three dots so it's easy to get left and right the right way. Helpful when using these things for gaming, where you definitely don't want the channels to get mixed up.

My SR-404's also have three dots on the left frame.
