I dont like the GS1000 at all. I think the RS-1 is better.

The GS1K smokes the RS1, because the GS1K doesn't sound like a Grado.

Sorry SACD.

Actually they do compliment each other, but the GS1K is so finicky finding good synergy for both many be a tad difficult. There are a variety of phones that do though so which is best for your music/equipment/budget is difficult to say without more info.

It's kind of hard to say. I think most people avoid owning both because they play most of the same genre's equally well - i.e., rock, jazz, acoustic, and blues. While the GS-1000's are certainly more adept with classical music, and the RS-1's with heavier rock, I think you'd be better off purchasing one or the other, and then looking into a more distinct headphone as a compliment. They're obviously both great headphones alone, however.

While I dont own the RS-1, I do own the RS-2. They definately compliment each other very well.

Having said that however, the RS-2 has barely seen any head time since the arrival of the GS1-k ten months ago.

I do not know if they complement each other, but they sound very different. And no, the GS1000 does not blow the RS1 (which I prefer). The GS1000 has some flaws that I do not like at all (artificially detailed, problems with timbre). It is better than the K701, but I prefer the HD600/650 for classical.

For a pair of complementary headphones, I would get the HD600/650 and the Grado RS1. And it is cheaper!

No, as far as I know it remains in the "upper-class" pizza box without the see-through cutouts for each earcup.

Now, that would be a good pairing.

Aren't the Denon D5000 the new and improved HD650, in a way, so that the ideal pairing would be RS1 and D5000?

Since we're asking ... what are GS1000's best compliment? L3000, or DX1000? Or something entirely different?
