lets say i am using a DAC AMP .

I'll be pairing it with my phone ,
in order to do so , i need an OTG to connect my phone to the dac amp .
However i wonder if a cheap OTG will do the job fine .
Short OTG are hard to find and i actually settled for a cheap one at them moment .

I assume the OTG cable's job is to allow the DAC to get the music from the phone .
As most of the processing will occur in the DAC itself , i guess it will not affect sound quality at all ,
am i right ?

if the cable is not defective, you shouldn't have any issues as usb transfers digital signal. either the ones and zeros get there or they don't.

however, there are people around here that believe in more expensive usb cables making a sonic difference. even if that is true (which currently I haven't seen any compelling literature suggesting that), the insane mark-ups and really high costs are probably not worth the subtle sonic changes imo. generally, people talking about cables improvements are talking about analog cables, but there are a subset of people who believe in digital cables as well. ymmv & people are free to spend their money how they wish.

...3, 2, 1...and this thread will explode into a cable debate....

it's true that i believe cable will affect sound quality , i work in a portable audio shop , and i have all sorts of IEM cables at my disposal to try . However those are IEM cables or Interconnect cables from DAC to amp , DAP to amp or Phone to amp .

But OTG may work differently as if i am not mistaken , they just transfer the signals , but the DAC does most of the job .
So i am kinda stucked here , that's why i am asking forums to see if anyone knows alittle more ^^

usb cables are digital cables just like hdmi cables. digital cables either transmit the bits or they don't. if they don't, the cable is defective and you will be able to tell. no need to purchase more expensive digital cables.

edit: OTG usb is just a type of usb cable that allows use of peripheral devices with mobile phones.

There is a case to made the other way when considering USB cables.  USB carries power along with digital.  To the extent that poor shielding or greater voltage drop can affect a USB-powered audio device's power, then the quality of a USB cable can make a difference.

That said, as long as the USB cable is shielded (not all are) and relatively short, it probably won't matter.
