My onboard card has great sound quality, but through my E500s the hiss is extremely horrible. Would the M-Audio revolution 5.1 improve greatly on this? I am very interested in one, but don't want to get a card that hisses bad with my phones.

I'm not sure, I was using it with non-iems and I didn't notice a hiss.

you would notice a signifigant improvment in quality... i used to have one for my hd580's...

I think there might be some conflict with drivers or something similiar because it should be decent soundcard and should not have any auditable hiss. I have shure e5c and i have tried lots of soundcards and there is no hiss. Exept onboard cards tht have terrible hiss.

if you use an amp you'll still get hiss
