Ive been downloading music at 256 in MP3 format.
I could do 256 in Mpeg-4.
Whats the difference?
Is 256 decent enough quality for someone concerned with saving space?

It really depends which encoder the tracks are encoded with.
Example; LAME is known to produce higher quality MP3 files than other MP3 encoders out there.

That said, 256Kbps should be transparent for most music/listeners out there.

256kbps mp3 encoded by LAME is quite good
