Does it matter if the PPX3 is left on?

I left home to go to work this morning and forgot to turn off the PPX3. Does it matter if it's left on for twelve hours without use? It does have Senn HD 555 headphones plugged into it.

Also, I have the AKG K271s which turn off automatically when you take them off the head (these are not the ones that are currently plugged in for the question above). Will having these headphones connected to the amp, but off, hurt the amp, since the instructions for the amp say that headphones should always be plugged into it when it's on?

from my understanding of amps in general, you did nothing wrong. If you amp is new, you just aided in burn-in which is good. 12 hours in the scheme of things is pretty small though. I was reading somewhere that good tubes in a good circuit have a pretty decent lifespan. Had this been a SS amp, some audiophiles would tell you to never turn it off!

I am buying a PPX3 soon, but it has been a demo unit and will already have been burnt in pretty good.

Tchau!

Leaving it on connected to a load wont hurt it one bit. My singlepowers are usually on atleast this long every weekend. The second question I would refer to Mikhail. However, I would guess the AKG K271 would be a problem. The amp must have a load or it will burn up. I know nothing about this headphone turning off but if it doesnt provide the amp with a load it will fry the amp.

As sacd lover said, it's not good for the amp. I had to mod my 271s to pull out the tab which does the auto-shutoff so I could safely use my 271s with my PPX3. Don't leave your 271s connected to the PPX3 when it's on when not on your head or pulled over a box or anything to keep the auto-shutoff from activating.
