Does burn in happen this fast????

Here are some questions for you that believe in break-in:

1. What's the purpose of calibration at the factory if the frequency response changes a few hours after they ship it out?

2. Why does burn-in only happen positively? Why doesn't anyone ever say "I really liked these when I got them, now that they're burned in, they're no good anymore!"

3. Why do the headphone manufacturers say that burn-in is not necessary? Don't they know their own equipment?

4. Show me some scientific data that burn-in is real.

i didn't (and still don't?) believe in break-in/burn-in. however, there are the few things that make me go umm.... i got my new ath-w11r phone monday morning, everything sounded pretty good except it had no bass at all. so in hoping that it is because of the lack of burn-in, i started the burn in process (and still continuing doing so) and wrote down the impressions everytime i do a listening test. also, before i do a listening test with the w11r, i listen to my old trusty 7506 for ten or so minutes first. this way i always have the same reference point?. here are the notes that i took:

- mon 10pm: no bass, very good sound stage, very musical
- tue 6am: still no bass, very good sound stage, very musical
- tue 8pm: bass seems a bit stronger?, very good sound stage, very musical
- wed 6am: there is bass! not as deep or tight as 7506, but there is bass!, very good sound stage, What a bit bright!?!
- wed 9pm: the bass seems to improve nicely, but it is bright! and What is this ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
- thur 6am: the bass is there, What is this sssssssssssssssssssss?!? go away s bad s bad!
- thur 7pm. arg!!!! not this sssssssssssssssssssssssssssss again, bright as hell, just plain harsh!

They don't calibrate every unit. Quote:

They don't. Quote:

I have to admit, I haven't seen that, but I have seen people say "I thought they were more 'up-front' before, but now they seemed a little laid back. Is there any way that I can reverse the burn-in process? I really liked them better the way they were before."

I don't have answers for the other two. But I'm not saying that answers don't exist for them, I'm just too lazy to look them up.
