ATH-A900 cost more, more than twice the AKG271...

Both are closed. So the question is: is A900 sound more than twice better than the AKG271 ??

No. With good amp, AKG271S>A900s. AKGs have good tight (but anemic) bass combined with absolutely lovely midrange. A900s have more bass quantity, but is little boomy along with little recession in the midrange. A900s are rather wonderful for gaming/movie watching purposes though

It's actually the other way around.
I got rid of my A900 in a week after acquiring K271S.

Why? What does the A900 do wrong in your opinion?
They do look comfortable, but I still have no clue about their sound sig.
They are on my wish list, but the opinions are so different

Good entry phones but mediocre at best, bloated bass, boosted treble and the worst part is the terrible recession in the mids. Quite comfortable except pleather pads that are sweat inducing, sound quite good out of anything, but never great.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but how do the AD900 stack up against the K271?
