Nice shot purrin.

I also prefer the PS1000 to the SR-507. Whenever I attempt to describe the SR-507, the word antiseptic comes to mind. For all of its technical capabilities, I just didn't find it engaging.

i'll put the ps1000 up against the sr007 o2 and even the he90! call me crazy. i am sure i am a minority but i love them. the truth is the k701/2 and dt880 are more accurate headphones for studio use when recording than any of the high end phones i own. that does not mean i prefer them for playback. the ps1000 just have the taste that i have not gotten full of yet. they have been bashed a lot but i personally put them amongst the best headphones made to date. that's just me though i know no one really agrees. still, i really wonder what happened to zanth. his review is no longer on grado labs. i'd be very interested to hear that story if there is one.

I'd put them up against the SRS-3170, but that's not saying as much, especially since the Grado costs more and does not include a driver. Nice to know I don't necessarily have to climb the Stax chain.

I just got a pair of these a few weeks ago from a seller here on Head-fi and they are pretty amazing. They have around 50 hours on them and I love pretty much everything about them. Compared to an LCD2, they have more energy, a better high end, and darn near almost as deep a low end. they can't go down low quite as much but I prefer their vibrancy.

it's not nearly as forceful as other grados I've used but it features vocals and other midrange frequencies slightly more prominently. the detail and soundstage on these cans are also amazing.

I'm not sure if it's 1700 USD amazing, but it's still the best I've heard. (owned Denon D5000, grado RS2. LCD-2)

I'm feeding them mostly 320 kbps MP3 via an HRT MS2+, then a burson HA-160.

II think the PS1000 mimic the Shure SE-5** on here. I've owned the SR80/125/325i, GS/PS 1000, RS2i, RS1(i). Every single time i've been told there is something better and every time i've been disappointed with the result. I'm not a 'Grado man' that has undying loyalty to any brand just at close to every new instalment i've had to go back... If i want to listen to rock i will still 99/100 times go for my RS1i's.

Anyway back to my original point, i have seen a lot of people over the years ask why the sure SE series are hardly ever mentioned on here. A lot of us know why, they're just fantastic headphones, there isn't really that much else to say there's no point discussing it. We all know these headphones are coloured there's no need to dispute that, we know they sound how they're supposed to - no disputing. The only thing that's left is do YOU like the Grado sound? If you do, you're happy there's no point in saying anything these are amazing. If you don't then what's the point in saying anything, if you don't like Grado you wouldn't buy them surely... Just my very long winded opinion.

Since the redesign of the Grado Labs website, you can find a handful of reviews of the PS1000 by scrolling down and clicking the gray button that says "More Reviews". Zanth's review is the third one down on that page. Additionally, clicking on "View Headphone Reviews" button on the left brings down a list of the models to browse their respective reviews.

They are still my reference and out of the Meier Concerto nothing short of amazing.

actually, it's because of gs1000.  i was thinking of getting ps1000.

Me too. And the descriptive Reviews here.

IMHO, PS-1 and PS1000 are on the same level.

My RS-1 and PS-1 were balanced once but I did not like what it did to the sound. It works great with the Senns, though.

So, yes I still love my PS1000.

I haven't had it for terribly long, but I think it will hold up about as well or a little better than any other upper-end Grado. If you're searching for reasons not to buy it, I think you'll have to keep looking.

For classical music, particularly the sound of massed strings and choral works, the PS-1000's sound very life-like to me.

Ditto for me too - unless a STAX Omega or SR-009 finds itself in my path very soon then for the time being
 - PS1000 is best ever - *when* it finds the right recording and the rig is transparent enough.

Yes they can be driven off an iPod but I really see that as just a trinket exercise - total waste of cash if that was their only pairing.

I'm a longtime happy owner and fan of the HP1000. Should I consider adding the PS1000 as well? What's different? Thanks.

PS1000 has more bass and treble compared to HP1000. I'd give the PS1000 the edge in real resolution too, unless you have Joe convert them to the "i" version or mod them yourself.
