Did they make a complete set in japan then discontinue them and then bring back the D66 and D22? The D77 and D55 look the same as if they were the original series. The D66 and D22 look like a different line.

I believe they were all released in Japan in this order:

(Lo-End and Hi-End)

D33 and D77

D11 and D55

D22 and D66

Go to www.partstore.com to find replacement parts for all models (but another Head-fi member tried order D77 parts from them and were told that they are discontinued, but they are still on the site). I have also seen (on forums) that even the D22/D66's may not be manufactured any longer.

Also, you might find these links somewhat interesting:

PS. I am a former D66 owner, and while I really liked their comfort and sound quality I just couldn't justify the $100 I spent on them (especially the lack of bass). I tried BowerR64's bass mod, and found that it helped, but it still wasn't enough. I think they're great if you want detailed, flat-sounding, comfortable, portable headphones, but not if you really love bass.
