I know it's probably something of an irrational thought, but do any of you who ordered it worry that the new build HE90's won't be the same as the old, like for some reason worse?

I think because the number sold was limited to just 18, they are being "assembled" from existing parts and not built from scratch. Sure I could be wrong too, but logically I favor the former. I would expect them to sound like new HE90's built from old parts, so relatively very similar to what's out there now. I think even if they were built from scratch, we won't be getting any "dogs" for the money involved. I trust they will be worthy of owning
Anyway, yes, I do worry about it. Let's face it, it's been some time since they made the last set and it seems that in most human production activity I have been involved with, those first few just don't come off as good as the ones a few months down the road...
What I am worried about is availability of spare parts. I hope they are keeping enough spare parts to service the now 318 units for at least the next 10 years.

So they only made 300 in the first run? Where did you find that out?
I don't think you have to worry about parts. The guy who designed them is still employed just to fix any ones that have problems. Sennheiser (like grado) has the best customer service available.
I read that they are acctually scratching alot of the extra models and are using high quality parts now with the new batch...search for it on the forums
Hi,
About two weeks ago, Rob (I don't remember his last name) the Product Manager for Sennheiser USA, told me that there were MORE than 300 HE-90's produced, but only 300 HEV-70 amplifiers were manufactured.
GRod
Either way, you guys are lucky that you get to worry about this Orpheus stuff.... I cant. Believe me, if I could worry about an Orpheus coming to me, I would.
