With my Grados and Super.fis... yes, technically. It's ridiculous listening times though. No less than 4 hours with the Grados and no less than 6 with the Super.fis.
Neither of my HD580s or A900s do. My ears do get a bit itchy after prolonged use and by prolonged I mean >6hours. Which can be cured by removing either headphone and having a little scratch.
Scratchy an itchy spot can be very satisfying and because you know its not an infection you won't irritate it by scratching.
ER4: Completely disappear after 2hrs, and then on the 6th hour ear canal becomes sore.
AD900, W5000: get a sudden "where did my headphones go?!" panic attack after 1hr. From then on it is disorientation every couple of hours wondering since when has the workplace started broadcasting funky elevator music.
It depends on the phones, e4c's with tri-flanges used to be pretty uncomfortable and painful when I got my new pair, now that feeling only comes every so often after wearing them for ages.
RS-1's = No pain, unless its for ages. The flats sometimes (after a long period) tend to feel like they are bruising my ears so I take them off for 5 minutes and all is good.
I do get a two tone ringing inside my left ear sometimes after a build up of listening to the RS-1's. it goes away after a couple of nights (thats the only time I hear it)
My sony MDR-XD400s can make my right ear hurt some times, not sure why. Even at lower volumes. I have an A900 on the way in the mail however, I can't wait!
ON A SIDE NOTE:
I found this quite funny. One of the google-ads I just saw on this site was advertising Bose!
