Do you use a voltage conditioner with your source?

I went to the local "ultimate electronics" today and one thing i seen in there i never thought of was a power conditioner. It had a digital display on the front and kept the voltage at a steady 120. Was a rack style unit

Thats a voltage regulator instead of just a conditioner.

I use a PS Audio P300 on my source and it's great but it's more than a voltage conditioner. There are just plain voltage regulators and how they are depends on if they condition also.

I also use a PS Audio P300 on my source... but more to keep the source happy with a 100V input than for power conditioning. I'm using a japanese market SACDP in the US where wall outlets supply 120V....

A feature that PS Audio needs in future Power Plants is independent voltage output control for different outlets in the back. So you can have 120V for one set of outputs and another for different outputs.

I use a Monster Power HTS3500. The thing I notice is a much blacker background. If your incoming power is clean, then one of these may not be needed, but if it is noisy, then I'm sure you'll hear a difference.

Power regulators, I know nothin' (Sgt. Schultz)

I use the Exact Power Ep15a power conditioner/regulator for amps/preamps
and the companion Sp15a balanced unit for sources.pics can be seen in the NY meet impressions thread.

that would be useful... I have no use for the other three ports in the back of that and all my amps are on a cheap $20 Belkin surge strip.

I agree with the above comment. If not necessary then it will become a luxury only. But i do use it as an additional protection to my hi-fi system from any electrical surge.

Is there such a thing as clean power even in your home with computers, microwaves, refrigerators, TVs, DVD players, lights, etc? There's a good amount of noise coming in already.

The question is if you can even hear it. I run my he60's in my bedroom and i don't hear anything out of the ordinary. I have my pc a foot or two away from my rig and my 27" wega tv right next to my rig as well. It's one thing to hear buzzing or static that can interfere with your source but it's another thing if there's interference that's so minimal that it cannot be heard unless you really go looking for it. Or even worse, you have no clue if that's interference at all and figure it's just some background noise created by the media you're listening to.

Well there is nothing like obvious like buzzing or noise. It presents itself like a haze over the music. You get used to it like it's not there. It's kind of like NYC stinks but you wouldn't know if you've been here a while. It's not until you come from an air fresh place. Air fresheners don't help (like some or one power conditioners). You need a large storm to clear things up (like filters everywhere and a regenerator).

I can hear the effects of the noise with and without conditioning.
