I use a headphone amp and I can control speaker and headphone volume seperately.

Since the headphones are open I sometimes have the speakes playing softly to kind of muffle out the sounds that are going on in my house. I guess you say I like having the primary music also playing as background sound too.

Does anyone else do that or am I just being a little weird from reading too many posts on this forum?

and thanks for that Troymadison, I knew it was coming.

But lets get real all of us must be a little off spending this much time and money on headphones not to mention the time time spent reading and posting on this forum.

Which by the way has cost me over $3000 in the past year.......

I sometimes do that with my Lambda's & MS1's. Combining their detail with the SPL of speakers & the subwoofer's physical oomph, it's the best of both worlds. Kinda like cheatin though.

Just have to be carefull not to get carried away with the volume.

I have done it and sat in the sweet spot of the speakers and got great results.

You, my man, need Darth Beyers.

I've occasionally noticed a certain slight physical bass resonating through my body with my DT880's. So it wasn't my imagination?

I haven't noticed it with the 701's and just got the MS1s, but never with the Lambda's and I wouldn't expect it from them anyway.

you know I tried "playing speakers" when i was a kid, but it was hard to sit in one place and vibrate for a long time. I don't think headphones would help.

I do this fairly often. I listen to speakers and occasionally put on headphones to change the sound - bring it closer. Sometimes I turn off the speakers sometimes I don't. Each amp adds a different sound so I play around with them.
