Do you have to install ITunes to put songs on an Ipod?

I use Foobar and refuse to use ITunes. Is there a way if I purchased a 60gig Ipod to put .mp3 and .wav files onto it without installing ITunes?

Is there a way to just make it drag and drop like other companie's MP3 players?

do Ipod's require you to convert MP3 files into a specific Apple created sound file? Or do they remain as MP3? Also, can Ipods play .wav or .flac files?

If you want drag and drop, try iAudio x5.
