Have you ever had a day when nothing sounds right?

there's no wax in your ears.

you're relaxed and not stressed out. you have had plenty of sleep. you're not depressed.

but you listen to a dozen headphones and you just can't get into the music?

there's nothing pressing on your mind.

you're not intoxicated, all is right with the world.

and no matter what headphone, amp or player you choose, nothing sounds "right".

classical, jazz, techno, country, swing, disco, top40, rock, R&B, house, euro, ... nothing you listen to is inspiring. it all just sounds too bright, or recessed, or muddy, or bloated, or smudged, or veiled, ... nothing just sounds right. it all sounds flat and boring.

you throw new music on. and nothing. it all sounds like background music. you throw on the stuff that has inspired you before, the stuff that has made you cry, the stuff that reminds you of a lost love. and nothing.

maybe it's time to bring out the K1000s. because i am just about at the point of pulling out my hair. maybe it's time to try to meet a woman. heaven knows the nudie bars won't help. music can't assauge this savage beast.

buying another amp is out of the question. i need it now and not a week from now.

so, does anyone else have bad listening days?

I had that experience recently....nothing sounded good and much sounded irritating. Went to the doc cause I wasnt feeling well..turned out I have alergies. Took a five day dose of Allegra and the ears are happy again.

thanks, John.

now that you mention it i do feel pressure in the eyes. so it most probably is allergies. i just hope it goes away. after all, that's why i moved to arizona.

time to go hunting for the spores and molds. the white flowers have fallen months ago. and this year there are millions of grasshoppers all around. so vegetation should be the least of my worries. the birds continue to grow fat.

maybe it's grass spores. they haven't cut the grass today.

YES!!!

Those days seem to be caused by barometric pressure swings and polution related allergies.

There are also days when it seems my hearing is much better than normal.

Last fall, a bad combination of the top 2 things (made worse by the wildfires in the area) had me thinking I was losing my hearing - and I sold my Ety's and Cosmic as a result. Whoooops.......

Yeah, me too.

I recently had a few days like that after I returned from a business trip. Plane landings always cause havok with my hearing. Even after my hearing seemed to have returned to normal afterward, it still took several days for my ear canals to readjust. Music listening in the meantime is a frustrating thing.

It was a new one on me, I have never had alergies in 49 years..but I felt that head pressure behind the eyes too..just didnt feel 100% and my hearing was sensitive.

According to my Doc...many people are coming down with them this year. The pollen count is the highest it's been since 1965

Certainly. There are days I wake up and just don't feel like listening to music. When nothing captivates me or excites me. It's all just sounds blah.

last night was pretty bad, actually. i went through many pairs of headphones and nothing sounded right. the right channel seemed stronger in ALL of them for some reason, and i just couldnt shake that "bubble in your head" feeling

Happens more often than I'd like. Sometimes it's being tired, sometimes it's sinus headaches, sometimes it's just wanting to do something else.

When I'm feeling out of sync, I change up my diet, drink more water, and do excercise. That'll teach my body who's boss.

<- i love this new smiley.

But when I have subpar days, I can do my other hobbies and just have background music on. You do have other things besides headphones right?
