Well I've narrowed it down to......

-Sen HD555 may be HD595
-Beyer DT 770M/80ohms
-Audio Tech A500, A700, A900

Budget is under $200

Source for now will be from my desktop w/ an Audigy2 zs

But in the near future this will switch to a notebook that will hopefully have one of those soundblaster go cards.

I don't want to get an amp so cans that sound good w/out one would be good.

Use:
I play FPS games a lot
I will watch movies on the notebook
I listen to music by Bob Dylan (other Folk artists), Jack Johnson etc.

Questions: 1)Since my source is less than ideal will I be able to tell the differences in the cans? 2)I would love to try these in person, is there a B&M store that carries nice headphones?

Alright well now it seems my only logical choices would be the DT770/80, the A900 or the HD595's.

Right now I just wish I could try them all out and see what I like..........the A900's seem to be the best choice b/c I wouldn't need an amp at all, it seems the the other two benefit a lot from an amp....IDK may be I'll find a store that carries at least one pair :/

Avoid DT770M 80ohm. That is more tool with great isolation than a headphone, not really good music nor gaming listening headphone. You want DT770 Pro 80ohm.
Its either that or Audio Techinca A900, depending if you want strong bass (dt770) or more balanced sound (a900)

Also consider Ultrasone HFI-650. I was VERY positively surprised by its big brother Proline 650 gaming ability. VERY deep reaching bass and good soundstage with good directional imagining.

As far as the HD595s and the a900s go, they will both do the job. Many times I would guess the decision made between the two is made upon a person's preference as far as open headphone or closed headphone. I have both and prefer the a900s, but I could see why some would prefer the hd595s.
